Similarities Between the Saatva Mattress and Amerisleep
Even though they are competing brands, they do share some similarities.
- Business Models: Amerisleep and Saatva both cut out the middleman. They sell their mattresses online. Amerisleep has a small number of stores but operates mostly online. Saatva is only available through the Saatva website.
- Industry Experience: Both Amerisleep and Saatva have been in the business for longer than most competing companies. They were both early pioneers of the online mattresses model.
- Customer Service: When dealing with online sales and delivery, it is important to have a product that is backed by the company. Amerisleep and Saatva both back their product. Based off reviews, they both provide excellent customer service.
- Trial Periods: A great aspect of the online mattress industry. Both companies offer generous sleep trials and return policies.
Differences Between the Saatva Mattress and Amerisleep
Despite having similar business models, there are many differences between these two companies.
- Mattress Type: Amerisleep provides memory foam mattresses. Saatva sells innerspring mattresses.
- Mattress Variety: Amerisleep sells five different models. Each model is a different firmness level that caters to specific sleeping styles. Saatva has one model of bed available in three different firmness options.
- Mattress Feel: Saatva mattresses are going to be bouncier and have a more traditional mattress feel. Amerisleep mattresses will have a more memory foam feel, depending on which model of theirs you choose.
- Shipping and Delivery: Amerisleep offers free delivery, shipping their mattress to you via FedEx. Saatva offers free white glove delivery and mattress removal.
The Feel of Saatva Mattresses
Saatva offers an innerspring mattress, providing three choices for firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. Innerspring mattresses are known for their bounce and responsiveness. You will not sink into the mattress and experience that conforming memory foam feel. Also, innerspring mattresses generally provide a very cool night sleep, as they are breathable and do not trap heat. However, innerspring mattresses may carry greater risks of experiencing motion transfer and sore pressure points.
The Feel of the Amerisleep Mattresses
Amerisleep’s five different firmness levels provide five very different sleep experiences. The overall feel of each mattress changes depending on its firmness level (AS1 – Firm; AS2 – Medium-Firm; AS3 – Medium; AS4 – Medium-Soft; AS5 – Soft). Each of these is a memory foam mattress. So, they all provide various levels of contouring. Amerisleep mattresses have much less bounce than Saatva beds, as memory foam mattresses tend to review better at providing pressure relief and motion isolation. However, foam mattresses may carry greater risks of sleeping hot.
Materials Used by Saatva
The Saatva uses a cotton cover and a euro pillow top. This is a common way for companies to make innerspring mattresses softer. It also has individually wrapped comfort coils, meant to help reduce the risks of motion transfer and increase contouring.
Saatva also uses a thin layer of memory foam to provide lumbar support. The base of the Saatva bed is made of steel coil, designed to provide the mattress with its durability.
Materials Used by Amerisleep
The Amerisleep mattresses are all foam mattresses. The layers in each model change to provide their unique level of firmness.
The cover is made with Celliant®, which is FDA determined1 to promote more restful sleep. Celliant® recycles natural body heat into infrared light, temporarily increasing your local blood flow.
The first layer of each mattress is Amerisleep’s Bio-Pur® layer. Bio-Pur® is Amerisleep’s plant-based foam, designed to be more responsive and more breathable than traditional memory foam.
All Amerisleep mattress, except for the AS1, which is their firmest option, have a zoned support HIVE® layer. HIVE®, which is clinically proven to reduce pressure points up to 49%2, is designed to offer support and comfort at the same time.
Every Amerisleep mattresses use a Bio-Core® layer for the bottom layer. Bio-Core® is designed to be durable and supportive.
Which Mattress Is for You?

Innerspring mattresses are generally cooler than memory foam mattresses. This is because they are less dense and air flows easily through the mattress. However, Amerisleep’s advanced plant-based Bio-Pur® foam helps keep the bed cool at night. Because of this, both Amerisleep and Saatva are good choices if you want a cool sleeping mattress.
Saatva is good for lumbar support, and Amerisleep is incredible for overall pain relief and support. Both are good options for support. Bounce and Responsiveness
Amerisleep’s plant-based Bio-Pur® foam is more responsive than traditional memory foam. However, Saatva’s mattress, due to its innerspring construction, will have more bounce.
Because Amerisleep uses memory foam and poly-foam as their tools for support and comfort their mattresses are more likely to contour to your body than a Saatva.
Saatva does use individually wrapped coils (a must for an innerspring mattress) to reduce the risks of motion transfer. However, memory foam is one of the best options on the market (if not the best) for eliminating motion transfer.
Both Amerisleep and Saatva offer long durability. Also, both offer high-end warranties for their products. Saatva puts a 15-year warranty on their mattress. For the first two years, you get a full replacement free of charge in case of defects, but for years 3-15 your defective mattress gets repaired, and you are responsible for a $99 shipping fee. The Saatva warranty guarantees the mattress will not develop a sag greater than 1 inch.
Amerisleep puts a 20-year warranty on their mattresses. For the first ten years, you get a full replacement free of charge if the mattress is defective. For the second ten years, you get half of the dollar value of your mattress towards a new mattress, minus any shipping fees.
The Amerisleep warranty guarantees the mattress will not develop a sag greater than 3/4 of an inch.
Both companies do their part to be eco-friendly.
Saatva uses recycled steel for their inner springs, organic cotton for its cover, and Certi-PUR US® certified memory foam for its lumbar support.
Amerisleep uses plant-based foam for their memory foam, replacing a significant amount of petroleum found in memory foam with Castor oil. Amerisleep’s memory foam is also Certi-PUR US® certified.
All layers of Amerisleep’s foams are made with a Variable Pressure Foaming (VPF) manufacturing process. VPF is a one-of-a-kind system which traps pollutants in carbon filters, emitting virtually zero emissions into the atmosphere. VPF is the only process to surpass the standards of the Federal Clean Air Act.
The Final Line Between Saatva Mattress Reviews and Amerisleep Mattress Reviews
Your final decision on a new mattress should come down to personal preferences, always. If it is right for you, then it is the right mattress. This final choice must first be between a traditional mattress and a memory foam mattress. If you enjoy a more traditional innerspring feel, then Saatva might be for you. Saatva reviews are very positive, and they do offer a quality product.
However, Amerisleep is the best option if you prefer newer designs with optimal support. They have five different firmness models, so it’s very likely they have a mattress that fits your preferences.
