Memorial Day Mattress Sale Trends
First off, what kind of discounts can you expect to find? Well, this is one of the major retail holidays alongside the 4th of July, Labor Day and Black Friday, so you can expect that stores are rolling out the big guns. It’s not uncommon to see beds 20 to 30 percent off of regular retail prices, sometimes even more. From March through June, this is likely the time to get the best savings.

When do Memorial Day Mattress Sales Begin in 2017?
This year Memorial Day falls on the 30th of May, but the sales will begin on or around Friday the 26th or earlier in the week prior. Retailers will be advertising sales before they actually start for the most part, even if the deals won’t be available until the weekend. It’s best to look early so you have time to do adequate research and comparisons.
What Types of Deals are Offered?
There are a number of ways retailers are offering discounts and rewards to customers. Plenty will offer a percent discount or take off a chunk of the price, while others will use rebates, gift cards or freebies to make their products more attractive. You may even find some combination of offers in your search. With such a variety and range of offers, calculating the exact savings can be difficult. Keep a notebook or scratch paper if your head starts swimming in numbers and features.
Rebates: You’re probably familiar with the rebate process. A rebate is a partial refund of the original purchase price. Some stores will offer checks, others may give gift cards in rebate form. Typically, rebates are redeemed by mailing a proof-of-purchase receipt to the retailer or manufacturer. The return can take several weeks, so make sure your budget can handle it, and definitely keep track of all of your receipts — and don’t forget to send that rebate in.
Discounts: These are price reductions taken off the original price at the time of purchase. Sometimes retailers will inflate their original prices in order to keep end prices high after discounting, so be wary of those that claim huge markdowns like “50-80% off”. Check prices across several dealers or reviewers to ensure you’re actually getting a discounted or at least fair price.
Online Offers: As the internet becomes a larger part of our lives, so too it has become an integral component for shopping. Memorial Day mattress sales are not just for the showroom anymore. You can find some great deals online. If you are going to showrooms and dealer locations, be sure to check the internet for prices of the same or similar models. Sometimes stores will even offer better prices online, and there are several online-only brands that offer a much broader selection than typical shops.
Promotional Beds: Some major manufacturers offer beds for very low prices as a promotional strategy or as “doorbuster” items. These are often fairly low quality. Be sure to check for the foam density or coil count and warranty. If it’s poor, it likely won’t hold long or offer much comfort, and you’ll be shelling out more to replace it sooner than with a bed of high quality that might cost a little more.
Freebies: You may come across free items with the purchase of a more expensive item or items. Pillows, toppers and other bedding accessories are sometimes given away to make a deal seem more valuable. Free stuff is great, but don’t attribute more value to the items than they are worth, especially if they aren’t things you don’t really need.
Who will have sales?
As for where to shop, you’ll find that department stores like Macy’s and Sears as well as dealers like Mattress Firm and Sleepy’s have events going on, as do many brands like Tempurpedic, Serta and Amerisleep online. Check out your local newspaper, online and social media, and retail/brand websites. If you have a particular store in mind, signing up for their emails can be a helpful way to find out sooner about upcoming sales.
Of course, we will also be collecting and comparing all of the offers here on this page for you as they become available if you don’t want to do the legwork!

Cannot decide what mattress to buy. We have a Tempurpedic foam one now that is 3 years
Old and it is not comfortable. We are side sleepers and we get up each morning with
aches and pains. It was the upper line foam model that cost over $5,000.
We cannot figure out what to do next. All sales people try steering us toward the
ones they could make the most commission. We are in our upper 70’s and do not
want to waste more money. Is an adjustable model better?
Any help would be appreciated.
